FAQ

Got Questions? We Got Answers!

General

What is a DTF anyway?

DTF stands for Direct to Film… yeah, it sounds technical, but it’s actually pretty chill.

Think of it like this:

We print your design onto a special film first, then use heat and pressure to transfer it onto fabric. Boom. Clean, vibrant, and ready to rock.

No screens, no weeding vinyl like you’re stuck in arts & crafts detention, just straight-up high-quality prints that slap.

Why it’s dope:

Works on cotton, polyester, blends… basically your whole closet
Colors come out bold and crispy (yes, even on dark shirts)
Holds up through washes like a 90’s Nokia
No cracking, no fading drama if you treat it right

So yeah, DTF is basically the cool kid of the print world, smooth, reliable, and ready to make your designs look fresh out the time machine.

Shipping & Orders

How fast do you ship?

We aim to ship orders within 24 hours on weekdays (Monday–Friday). Once shipped, most deliveries arrive within 3-5 business days depending on your location. We'll send you tracking info so you can follow your package every step of the way!

Do you ship internationally?

Currently, we ship throughout the continental United States. International shipping is coming soon! Hit us up if you're outside the US and we'll see what we can work out.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Once an order is placed, we start processing it right away. If you want to make changes, contact us ASAP within the first hour of ordering. Cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours before shipping.

Is there a minimum order?

No minimums! You can order one transfer or as many as you want. Filling up a gang sheet just makes each print cheaper.

Files & Design

What file formats do you accept?

We accept PNG, JPG, PDF, and AI files. For the best quality, upload PNG files with transparent backgrounds at 300 DPI or higher. If uploading JPG, be aware that white areas will print as white ink.

What resolution do I need?

We recommend 300 DPI (dots per inch) for the best print quality. This ensures your designs print sharp and vibrant. Lower DPI may result in blurry or pixelated prints.

Do you accept RGB or CMYK files?

We accept both! RGB files will be converted to CMYK during printing. For the most accurate color representation, we recommend providing CMYK files since DTF printing uses the CMYK color model.

Can you design something for me?

We don't offer custom design services, but don't worry! We recommend checking out Etsy, Fiverr, or Upwork to find talented artists and freelancers who can create the perfect design for you. Then just upload it to us and we'll make it look rad!

Why do my colors look different than on my screen?

Screens use RGB colors, but printers use CMYK. If you upload RGB, it gets converted automatically, which can slightly change colors. For best results, convert to CMYK before uploading.

Products

What's the difference between single prints and gang sheets?

A single print is one custom design on a transfer. A gang sheet combines multiple designs on one sheet, which saves you money per design. Perfect for testing designs, small batches, or group orders.

How much do gang sheets cost?

Gang sheets are $0.025 per square inch. They're always 22" wide—length depends on your layout. For example, a 22" × 60" sheet is 1,320 sq in, so that's $33.00. Way more affordable than single prints, and perfect for testing designs or group orders.

What garments can I apply transfers to?

DTF transfers work on 100% cotton, cotton blends, and polyester. They stick best to lighter colored garments but can work on darker colors too. Perfect for t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, and more!

What kind of threads can handle DTF transfers?

DTF sticks to almost anything: cotton, polyester, blends, canvas, fleece, and denim. It's way more flexible than older print methods and even works on dark fabrics!

Do I need fancy gear to apply transfers?

Nope! A heat press is best, but you can even use a home iron. No special printers, inks, or pretreatment needed.

Can I stack designs on top of each other?

Most of the time, you won't need to. DTF prints full-color designs in one shot. If you do layer, press them separately and don't stack too many layers on top of each other.

Do I have to prep or coat the garment beforehand?

No prep needed. The adhesive is already built into the transfer. Just press and go!

How does a DTF print feel?

DTF prints are soft, lightweight, and flexible. They move with the fabric and don't feel stiff like older vinyl prints.

Can I use these on hats, shoes, or weird surfaces?

Yes! DTF works on hats, shoes, bags, and other non-flat surfaces. You'll just need the right press attachment or a smaller press to apply even pressure.

How should I store my transfers?

Keep them in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and humidity. Store them in an airtight bag or folder to keep dust out. Stored properly, they'll last a long time.

Quality & Issues

What if I'm not happy with my order?

We stand behind our work 100%! If you receive a defective or damaged order, or if it doesn't meet your expectations, contact us immediately. We'll either reprint it or refund you—no questions asked.

How do I care for DTF transfers?

Wash in cold water inside out. Use mild detergent and skip the bleach. Air dry or use low heat in the dryer. This keeps your prints looking fresh and vibrant for way longer!

Do you offer a quality guarantee?

Yes! Every print we produce goes through quality control. If there's an issue with the print quality, color, or application, we'll make it right. That's the Funky Fresh promise!

Why isn't my transfer sticking or peeling correctly?

Check your heat press settings: aim for 310°F–325°F with firm pressure on the first press, matching our Fresh Press Guide. Use a cold peel—wait until it’s cool to the touch, then peel the carrier slowly and evenly; peeling hot usually causes problems. If it’s not peeling clean, press again briefly, let it cool, and retry. Most issues come from wrong temperature, not enough pressure, or peeling too early.

Why is my design wrinkling after washing?

This usually happens from shrinkage or not letting the print fully cure. Always pre-press, and wait 24-48 hours before the first wash. If needed, you can re-press with parchment paper after washing to smooth things out.

Bulk Orders

Do you do bulk/wholesale orders?

Heck yeah! We love big orders. For bulk pricing and custom quotes, email us and we'll hook you up with special rates. The more you order, the better the deal!

Account

Do I need an account to order?

Nope! You can check out as a guest. But creating an account makes tracking orders, saving designs, and future purchases way easier. Plus, you'll get exclusive deals!

Can I save my designs?

Yep! With an account, you can save all your custom designs in your profile. Super convenient for reorders or when inspiration strikes later!

Pressing & Application

How do I press your DTF transfers?

Same steps as our Fresh Press Guide on each product: pre-press your garment for 8 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. Press at 310°F–325°F with high, firm pressure—first press for 8 seconds. Cold peel: once it’s cool to the touch, peel the carrier film slowly and evenly (don’t peel hot). Finish with a second press for about 8 seconds; cover your design first if you want to adjust texture or finish.

Should I pre-press the shirt first?

Always! Pre-press for about 8 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles—same warm-up as our Fresh Press Guide. Moisture can turn into steam and mess with adhesion.

How long should I wait before wearing the shirt?

Let it cool for about 5-10 minutes after the final press before wearing or handling it. This helps the adhesive fully set.

Can I use parchment paper or a Teflon sheet?

Yes, but only during the final press. Don't use it during the first press, or it can affect how well the transfer bonds.

How can I make the print feel softer and less "plasticky"?

After you cold-peel the carrier film, use your second press with parchment paper, kraft paper, or textured materials like burlap to tweak feel and finish. These can lightly press texture into the ink, making it feel softer and more natural. Designing with negative space like halftones also helps avoid solid blocks of ink.
